Code of Conduct

Members of the Institute of Vehicle Recovery are not only recognised for their skills and experience but have also agreed to abide by the following Code of Conduct. Accepting the Code of Conduct is a condition of membership of the Institute of Vehicle Recovery. You must agree to:-

  • Uphold and enhance the standing of the recovery sector and the IVR while conducting themselves in such a manner as to ensure they do not bring the profession and the Institute into disrepute
  • Act in a strictly professional way at all times in their approach to the public, business colleagues and those they meet during their day to day activities
  • Maintain professional skills and competence relating to legislative and industry requirements
  • Perform their duties and observe their responsibilities with integrity, courtesy and consideration
  • Take all responsible steps to ensure that people under their control carry out their duties with integrity, courtesy and consideration
  • Will not incur personal gain through abuse of their professional status
  • Comply with all legislation relating to the recovery sector and in particular to their own organisation
  • Respect the confidentiality of any information provided to you by customers, employers, staff and suppliers
  • Ensure that the reputation of another member is not unfairly injured, either directly or indirectly
  • Commit themselves to raise their educational standards and skills through training and development
  • Encourage those working under their control to raise their educational standards and skills through training and development
  • To ensure that there is no discrimination between customers, colleagues and suppliers
